The nervous system · Water Body

Your nervous system runs on two colours. Life is lived in the third.

Red Mind is the sympathetic alarm — useful for action, harmful when chronic, and Root 1 of nearly every disease we treat. Blue Mind is the parasympathetic home where the body heals. Purple is what happens when Red effort is held inside Blue calm: the coded state of flow. Choose your colour below.

Red Mind — the fire that saves you, until it doesn't

"Red Mind is a brilliant servant — and a terrible master. We were built to visit Red, not to live there."

Your brain cannot tell the difference between a lion and a deadline. Same alarm, same chemicals. Most adults now hold that alarm for sixteen hours a day, and the body pays in a currency we can measure.

SignatureFast · Narrow · Urgent · Reactive
In the bloodHRV ↓ · Cortisol ↑ · Insulin resistance ↑ · CRP, IL-6, TNF-α ↑ · NK-cell surveillance ↓
Feels likeRacing heart, clenched jaw, chest breathing, circling worry, waking tired, "I cannot stop even when I want to"
The One RuleRed Mind is only for things you can do something about right now. The past is done. The future is imaginary. The present is Red's only valid use.

Blue Mind — the water inside you that heals everything

"Blue is not calm. Blue is alive. It is the biological state your body was designed to live in."

Parasympathetic access: the body stops defending and starts restoring. Heart and breath synchronise, HRV rises, digestion and repair switch on, and the ideas that could not come in Red arrive effortlessly. The vagus nerve is its physical cable — and it is trainable.

Purple Mind — where Red effort meets Blue calm

"Blue is your home. Purple is where you live. Red is for real lions. Water is the road between all three."

Nobody performs from pure Blue. Performance happens in a trainable blend — and the sweetest version is roughly 80% Blue, 20% Red. That is what the literature calls flow, and it is what the WHOOP recorded at 46 bpm mid-surgery: purple, made visible.

Pure BlueDeep sleep, yoga nidra, flotation
90 / 10Creative drift — journaling, slow swim, deep reading
80 / 20The Sweet Spot — surgical flow, deep work, teaching
60 / 40The Edge — competition, high-stakes talks. Visit, don't live here
Pure RedPanic, rage, acute emergency. 30 seconds, not 30 days
The formulaRed for focus · Blue to recover · Purple to perform
Built, not found80% Blue built before the activity, 20% Red built into it — "80/20 is not a productivity rule, it is a nervous-system ratio"
Six signsSlow breath, sharp senses · soft jaw, alive eyes · time distorts · the next move arrives unbidden · you forget the phone for an hour · you finish more energetic than you began

Where it lives in the method

Red is Root 1. That is why we start in Water.

Chronic sympathetic overdrive is the first of the three dysfunctions we map, and the Water Body is where it is trained. The colour check-in is the smallest version of the whole method: notice the state, ask if it fits, change one thing.

Come home to Blue. Live in Purple.

The nervous-system work is where every protocol begins — and it is trainable, measurably, on your own wrist.
